Questions We Get About Metal
Over a solid deck with underlayment, far less than people expect. The drumming reputation comes from metal laid over open purlins on barns.
Metal dents rather than fractures, and impact-rated profiles exist. Denting is cosmetic on most systems, which is a different failure mode than a bruised asphalt shingle.
Meaningfully more up front, with a longer service life. The estimate prices both so you can compare the numbers rather than the sales pitch.
Sometimes, structurally. We generally do not recommend it, for the same reason we do not layer shingles. It hides the deck.
